Built for the Magic Mouse.
Most viewers treat the Magic Mouse as a mouse with an unusual shape. Meerpix uses the whole surface: swipe sideways to move through a folder, swipe up and down to zoom, press and hold to select text. Regular mice, trackpads and the keyboard each get a mapping of their own.

On macOS
You're probably using Preview.
Preview is built on a document model: it takes responsibility for the one file you opened. That's the right shape for reading a single image, marking one up, or signing a PDF. Working through a folder from beginning to end isn't what it's for.
Meerpix uses a different model: the image you double-click decides which folder you're browsing. The rest of the directory sorts by filename into a sequence, and the images either side are decoded ahead of time — so the arrow key lands on something already in memory.
Double-click any image in Finder and the whole directory comes with it.

macOS already ships Preview. Why another viewer?
Preview takes responsibility for the one file you opened. If your common actions are scrolling to zoom and paging through a folder, it works against you the whole way.
Is it free?
Yes. Every feature, no in-app purchases, no trial period.
Do my images get uploaded?
No. Browsing and text recognition both run on your Mac. The app doesn't need network access.
Which Macs does it run on?
macOS 11 Big Sur and later. Universal binary for Intel and Apple Silicon.
Can I use it without a mouse?
Yes. The trackpad handles pinch-to-zoom and two-finger paging, and arrow keys or a click on the edge of the image do the same thing.
Why download here instead of the App Store?
Both will exist. The DMG usually gets new versions first — App Store builds go through review, which adds a few days. The app is the same either way.
